Design by Hernandez is a creative design firm founded by Jessie Patterson, specializing in transforming outdated properties into stylish, functional homes — all on low-cost budgets. With a sharp eye for design and a resourceful approach to renovation, the firm focuses on maximizing impact while minimizing spend, bringing neglected homes in Louisville, KY back to life.

Jessie’s journey began in New York, where she grew up working alongside her father and brother in the family’s home remodeling business. Though her career initially took her into the world of fashion — including a degree from the renowned Fashion Institute of Technology and over 20 years in retail, marketing, and operations — her early hands-on experience with renovations never left her.

After moving to Louisville and a series of career pivots, Jessie returned to her roots and passion: real estate and design. Through Design by Hernandez, she now combines her fashion-forward sensibility with construction know-how to deliver beautiful, budget-conscious home flips that resonate with today’s buyers. Her mission is simple — make good design accessible, one thoughtful renovation at a time.
